As a fee-only investment advisor Sunflower is required by law to be a fiduciary for our clients. We have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of the client at all times. Conversely, commission compensated brokerage firms generally are not fiduciaries to their customers and therefore do not have to make decisions that are solely in their customers' best interests.
