Philosophy - The Sunflower Asset Management Way.
Few investors take the time to do their homework when searching for an investment counselor. Folks will spend time researching a toaster via Consumer Reports magazine, yet casually turn over sizeable sums to invest with little more than a superficial investigation. Their default option is all too often settling for investing with an “acquaintance.” Those who take a modest amount of time to thoughtfully dig a little deeper will be pleasantly surprised. They will be rewarded with the knowledge they need to make an informed decision about who to entrust with their hard-earned investments.
Just as lawyers do not represent themselves in the courtroom, investors are best served when they do not represent themselves in the financial markets
Our fundamental objective is to achieve the long-range investment goals of our clients. We select securities based upon a proprietary system developed over time and continuously refined. “Guesstimates” about the economy, general stock market, etc. are not necessary requirements for our system to perform effectively.
The investment world changes constantly; it is our responsibility to be attuned to the current economic climate and to apply our knowledge and experience in ordering changes in our client portfolios consistent with our clients’ objectives and risk levels. This approach alleviates client worries. Understanding client goals is essential in effective portfolio management.
SAM strives to empower our clients with the applicable information they need to make informed decisions. We strive to help spouses/partners achieve satisfactory compromises regarding money issues. We arbitrate conflicting objectives. We offer feedback with uncompromising candor, empathy, and compassion. Our goal is to give our clients, regardless of marital status, the joy and peace of mind which results from a trusted business relationship. When implementing solutions, we first and foremost think in terms of “what is best for our client,” based upon our expertise and knowledge of our client. What would we want recommended to us if we were in the client’s shoes?
Communication is vital to success. Efficient use of Sunflower's time is one of our major objectives and helps us to do the very best for our clients. Our weekly e-mail commentary keeps our clients informed as to our current views on market conditions. Clients may contact us at any time to discuss their concerns, clarify issues, or change their objectives. Sunflower does not usually initiate calls to clients since our time is best spent doing the research required to optimize our performance. Clients should initiate contact with Sunflower whenever they deem it necessary. The client controls this process and knows best when he/she needs to communicate with Sunflower.
Understanding client goals is essential in effective portfolio management. It is the responsibility of the client to notify us promptly upon any personal change that might affect investment strategies and goals.
