Joe Kain is owner/president of Sunflower Asset Management, Inc. He earned the Certified Financial Planner designation in 1987. Joe has been employed in the financial services industry since 1976. He earned his BS in Business Administration majoring in Finance from Kansas State University in 1974. He met the qualifications and was accepted into the National Football Player's Association as a financial advisor in 2003, and was an active member until 2005.
Joe manages client portfolios and is the compliance officer of the firm. He performs all his own research of prospective companies and stocks utilizing methods he has developed over the years. He writes the weekly investment commentaries for clients, and interested parties. |
On a volunteer basis, Joe speaks to various high school students about investing and the stock market. He is a regular speaker at Kansas State University's Business School. Joe is on the advisory board for Students In Free Enterprise(SIFE) at KSU.
Joe was recognized by Money Magazine as a "top stockbroker"(October 1987). Joe was also listed by K.C. Magazine (April 2007) as a "best" personal wealth manager in the investment category. He most recently has been quoted in Veterinary Economics Magazine on various investment-related topics. |

Marcus Kain, graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, and attended Texas Christian University (TCU) where he obtained a dual degree in finance and accounting. While at TCU, Marcus helped write a business plan for a sports management and consulting firm. The plan came to fruition and successfully guided the firm for several years.
After TCU he worked for just over four years with a large GMAC company, Homecomings Financial. He first was an accountant then was promoted to a risk management position where he managed reputational, credit and compliance risks on a daily basis. |
Marcus now serves Sunflower Asset Management in several capacities. One of his responsibilities is introducing the SAM investment philosophy to prospective clients. In addition, Marcus assists with the day-to-day operations of the firm. Marcus possesses an insurance license for accident, health and life as well as a Series 65 designation. He is also pursuing the designation of Certified Financial Planner. This will enhance his ability to support SAM's research function and successfully manage client financial objectives.
Marcus makes it a priority to engage in the local community outside of the office. During his tenure in Texas, Marcus supported the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Worth and even volunteered with Junior Achievement to teach a class at a local school in Dallas. He has continued his involvement by coaching high school girls’ soccer for several seasons. He also was a part of the Kansas City Chapter of Friends of Children International for nearly 2 years. Currently he is active in the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce and is president of a volunteer non-profit that he has been involved with since late 2007. |

Brad McFadden, Chief Operating Officer since 2010. Mr. McFadden has been providing financial and management services since 2000. Mr. McFadden earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri, and his M.B.A. from Rockhurst University. He is a Certified Administrator for elderly care. He serves on the board of trustees for the Johnson County NAMI mental health. Brad is passionate about working with people to get their business and financial affairs optimized. |
