Doug VonFeldt, CPA

"Many firms focus too heavily on continually expanding their client base, often times at the expense of the level of service provided to each client. I have chosen to limit the size of my client base and the number of services that I provide in order to provide more individualized services. I think of myself more as an advisor and planner than as a service provider," Mr. VonFeldt comments.

Marcus Kain
Marcus Kain

Marcus Kain, graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, and attended Texas Christian University (TCU) where he obtained a dual degree in finance and accounting. While at TCU, Marcus helped write a business plan for a sports management and consulting firm. The plan came to fruition and successfully guided the firm for several years.

After TCU he worked for just over four years with a large GMAC company, Homecomings Financial. He first was an accountant then was promoted to a risk management position where he managed reputational, credit and compliance risks on a daily basis.

Marcus now serves Sunflower Asset Management in several capacities. One of his responsibilities is introducing the SAM investment philosophy to prospective clients. In addition, Marcus assists with the day-to-day operations of the firm. Marcus possesses an insurance license for accident, health and life as well as a Series 65 designation. He is also pursuing the designation of Certified Financial Planner. This will enhance his ability to support SAM's research function and successfully manage client financial objectives.

Marcus makes it a priority to engage in the local community outside of the office.  During his tenure in Texas, Marcus supported the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Worth and even volunteered with Junior Achievement to teach a class at a local school in Dallas.  He has continued his involvement by coaching high school girls’ soccer for several seasons.  He also was a part of the Kansas City Chapter of Friends of Children International for nearly 2 years.  Currently he is active in the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce and is president of a volunteer non-profit that he has been involved with since late 2007.
